Paul McCartney and John Lennon were prolific songwriters. Paul was born James Paul McCartney on June 18, 1942 in Allerton, Liverpool, England. He was a founding member of The Beatles" in the late 1950's -- originally known as The Quarrymen, Johnny & The Moondogs, The Rainbows, and The Silver Beatles.
McCartney had 72 charted hits as a performer with the Beatles and has had over 40 charted hits thus far as a performer post-Beatles. He has written over 50 Top 10 singles. Paul won Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990, and he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1997.
